Allgaier, Schrader, Wallace Set For Midweek Shows At Macon & Paducah Tue, 25 Aug 2015 00:13:00 +0000

Continue reading »]]> NASCAR Stars An Added Attraction To Popular Late Model Events

USA World 50 Facebook Post Two huge events are on tap as midweek shows, this week, as the UMP Super Late Models are coming to Macon Speedway on Wednesday, August 26 then making the trip to Paducah International Speedway for the Thursday, August 27 show. As an added attraction, NASCAR stars, Justin Allgaier, Kenny Wallace, and Ken Schrader will be competing in the UMP Modifieds at both events.

Justin Allgaier, a Riverton native and former regular at Macon Speedway, will be returning to his roots to race in the Billingsley Towing Modifieds in his first visit this season. Allgaier is competing in his second full season in the Brandt Chevrolet in Sprint Cup. He will be joined by NASCAR stars Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace, a pair of Macon Speedway co-owners who just can’t get enough of dirt track racing. The B-Mods will also race in addition to the two high powered divisions.

The Herald & Review 100 serves as the crown jewel of racing at Macon Speedway but it was rained out in July. The race will be the 35th running of the storied event. The race will likely attract the sport’s biggest names. Bobby Pierce claimed the Hell Tour Series championship but will be competing on Wednesday night. Pierce is coming off of an impressive second place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Eldora’s Mudsummer Classic.

Schrader, Wallace, and Allgaier will also be competing on Thursday, August 27 at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky as part of the USA World 50-Chris Smith Memorial show. The highly popular Super Late Model event is also a rescheduled event as the Hell Tour was postponed at Paducah in June. The event will see racing in the Modifieds, with the NASCAR stars facing off in addition to the Kentucky Vintage Racing.

The Herald & Review at Macon will be paying $5,000 to win and should draw a stellar field of cars. The Super Late Models were last in action at the track on August 1 and drew 34 competitors for the KERBYSTRONG 100. Tickets will be sold for $25 at the gate, while children 11 and under are $5. Pits open at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, and racing will begin at 7:00.

The USA World 50-Chris Smith Memorial at Paducah will see pit gates opening at 2:00 Thursday, grandstands at 3:00, hotlaps at 6:15, and racing at 7:30. Tickets will be sold at the door for $25, while children 11 and under are $5.

The 4th Annual Chris Smith Memorial To Pay $10,000 To Win Wed, 24 Jun 2015 16:19:06 +0000

Continue reading »]]> Summernationals Flyer15aThe UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour is approaching the 1/3-mark of its grueling 2015 schedule. While the wet weather has claimed events at Wilmot, Spoon River, and Tri-City, the six completed events have produced six different winners. Fans in Southern Illinois and Northern Kentucky are looking forward to the Friday, June 26 tour stop at Paducah International Raceway.

Last year’s event at Paducah was canceled due to rain. With the tight schedule, it was not made up during the course of the Summer National season, though a big Late Model race was rescheduled for later in the year. Billy Moyer was the most recent tour winner at Paducah, claiming the top prize back in 2013. Looking at other winners the last few years at Paducah, Brian Birkhofer(2012), Ray Cook(2011), Billy Moyer(2010), and Billy Moyer(2009) have claimed victories.

This year’s tour has recently been marred by rain, with three events canceled. In the six events that have been completed, six different winners have found victory lane. Dennis Erb, Jr., Frank Heckenast, Jr., Jimmy Mars, Jason Feger, Bobby Pierce, and Billy Moyer, Jr. have savored the taste of victory so far. 85 different drivers have been on track during the early start to this year’s chase for the championship. Pierce currently leads the standings over Moyer, Jr., Feger, Ryan Unzicker, and Shannon Babb.

The Friday, June 26 event at Paducah will pay $10,000 to win, while the series champion will receive $25,000. The race is named after Chris Smith, who was a local car owner and racing supporter for many years. Among others, he was car owner for the famed PIR racer, Gary Keeling and a sponsor for Freddy Smith. Chris passed away in 2009 after a battle with Leukemia.

In addition to the Super Late Models, the night’s action will also be highlighted by a Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals race, paying $1,000 to the winner.

Pits open on June 26 at 2:00, grandstands at 3:00, and racing action will start at 7:30. Grandstand admission is $25 for adults, while children 11 and under are $5.

Babb Takes Peoria Checkers, Becomes First Repeat Winner Wed, 24 Jun 2015 16:16:53 +0000

Continue reading »]]> PEORIA, Ill. – June 23, 2015 – Shannon Babb became the first repeat winner during this year’s DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour when he passed Bobby Pierce midway through Tuesday night’s feature at Peoria Speedway and led the final 20 laps to collect the $5,000 checkered flag.

Babb, of Moweaqua, Ill., also tied Billy Moyer Jr. with the most all-time wins in DIRTcar Summer Nationals history with 89 victories.

Pierce, who continues to lead the overall championship, Ryan Unzicker, Dennis Erb Jr. and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five.

Unzicker led the first two laps on Tuesday night before Pierce moved into the top spot. Babb, who started fourth, worked first past Unzicker then Pierce and never looked back.

“The moisture, it was soaking in around in the wall at the top of three and four, and one and two, but one and two falls off the banking on exit, but three and four was awesome,” said Babb, a four-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals champion. “I started fourth and I was in the right position to find that line, and I was able to my way around them guys.”

The DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour races into Belle-Clair Speedway on Wednesday night in Belleville, Ill. Pierce extended his championship lead over Moyer Jr. to 32 points. The victory helped Babb move into third in his quest for a fifth crown.
