2010 Marks Jake Mayo’s Street Stock Division Debut
Most 11-year olds do not know how to drive… Jake Mayo doesn’t just know how to drive; he knows how to race. Jake, who is the 2009 PIR Track 4-Cylinder Champion, already has two years experience behind the wheel.
Jake credits his dad with having the biggest influence on his racing career. He watched his dad, Keith, race 4-Cylinders and Street Stocks. It was not long before it was “Like Father, Like Son.”
“I finally talked him into letting me race,” Jake recalls how he convinced his dad to let him get in the driver’s seat. “I was nervous at first but kept getting faster each race.”
Jake’s first 4-Cylinder Feature win came on June 5, 2009 at Paducah International Raceway.
His mom, Crissy, recalls, “He was walking on air.”
Jake’s other wins include 12 Heat Race wins and a total of seven Feature wins. He reached the pinnacle of success last October when he sealed the 2009 4-Cylinder Track Championship.
“I can’t even explain how I felt,” Jake says of his achievement. “I raced a great car, learned a lot, and raced against some great competitors.”
Jake has been exclusively racing at Paducah International Raceway, but may venture onto other tracks this season. He hopes to be racing in the Late Models Division over the course of the next five to 10 years.
Jake is not only a hard worker on the track; he gets the job done off the track as well. He is on the Honor Roll at Reidland Middle School where he also plays on the football team.
This season, Jake will be driving the J1 Street Stock sponsored by Brushstroke Signs and Victory RV Park and Campground. Show your support for one of our newest Street Stock drivers!
